The assignment
Care stages. Connected.

Bring essential steps of a cancer patient journey into one digital flow.

Reported outcome 01
Patient longevity

Improvement reported, with no clinical validation supplied.

Reported outcome 02
↑ Merck sales

Sales growth reported, with no measured uplift or attribution data supplied.

01 / Context

One patient journey. Multiple critical steps.

Cancer treatment involves a series of clinically significant activities — from appointments and diagnostic testing to result review, prescription and medication. The project brief identified a need to support appropriate dosage decisions as part of a broader goal of improving patient longevity.

UniQual iTech introduced an end-to-end digital flow encompassing doctor appointment booking, laboratory tests, results, dosage prescription and Merck medication.

The focus: connect treatment-related activities within a defined digital pathway.

* “Merck” is provisional here: the commissioning Merck legal entity has not been confirmed.

02 / The challenge

Support a complex care journey without losing sight of the patient.

The supplied project scope points to three interconnected needs. The existing systems and operational shortcomings have not been documented.

01 — ACCESS

Start with consultation

Include doctor appointment booking as an accessible stage of the patient journey.

02 — INFORM

Include diagnostic steps

Connect laboratory testing and test results to the treatment-related workflow.

03 — TREAT

Support prescription flow

Include clinician-directed dosage prescription and the medication stage.

03 / The solution

From appointment to medication. One defined flow.

Rather than addressing a single isolated activity, the solution spans five described stages. The software supports a structured journey; it is not claimed to independently make treatment or dosage decisions.

01 / BOOK

Doctor appointment

Booking a consultation.

02 / TEST

Laboratory testing

Include the diagnostic test stage.

03 / REVIEW

Test results

Include laboratory results in the journey.

04 / PRESCRIBE

Dosage prescription

Clinician-directed prescription stage.

05 / MEDICATION

Merck medicine

Complete the described medication stage.

04 / Capabilities

Connected stages.
Purposeful functionality.

Appointment booking

A defined starting point for doctor consultations within the digital flow.

Laboratory tests & results

Diagnostic testing and its results are included as distinct workflow stages.

Prescription & medication

The journey includes dosage prescription and Merck medication, without implying automated clinical decisions.

05 / Reported outcomes

Patient-focused ambition.
Reported business movement.

The project brief identifies two outcomes. Neither is accompanied by measured values or evidence sufficient to establish a causal effect from the software.

Reported

Patient longevity improvement

An improvement in longevity among cancer patients was reported. Clinical datasets, patient cohorts, follow-up periods and analyses were not supplied; this is not a verified survival or treatment-efficacy claim.

↑ Reported

Merck sales increase

Sales growth was reported following the initiative. The magnitude, period, relevant products and contribution of the software were not established.

Critical qualification: neither the software's impact on survival nor its role in sales growth has been independently substantiated. Do not publish patient-survival efficacy claims without appropriate clinical and legal review.

06 / What changed

From a care-support objective to an end-to-end workflow.

The project brief does not establish that pre-existing clinical systems were absent or that the software made autonomous dosage recommendations.

07 / The takeaway

Software designed around a real healthcare journey.

UniQual iTech introduced a digital flow encompassing consultations, laboratory testing, results, prescription and medication. The case demonstrates how connected software functionality can be organized around a complex healthcare requirement.

The reported longevity and sales outcomes warrant further validation. The supported contribution is the end-to-end workflow itself — a foundation for patient-support activities that must operate under appropriate clinical and data governance.
